Step-by-Step Guide for Installing PuTTY and PuTTYgen
Introduction
In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing PuTTY and PuTTYgen on a Windows system. PuTTY is a no-cost telnet and ssh client, providing you with the ability to connect to devices such as your Linux VPS. As part of the PuTTY installation, PuTTYgen will also be included, allowing you to generate keys for your connections.
Step 1:
Launch your web browser. Feel free to use the browser of your preference..
Step 2:
Navigate to the following URL: https://www.putty.org/
Step 3:
Once on the page, either click on “Download PuTTY” or use the provided link labeled “here” to be directed to the download page.
Step 4:
On the download page, under “Package files,” choose the “MSI (‘Windows Installer’)” option that corresponds to your system. After the download is complete, open the installation file.
Step 5:
If the Setup Wizard appears, click “Next.” Select your preferred destination folder or leave it as the default, then click “Next.” You can adjust the installation settings if needed or keep them as default. Click “Install” and wait for the installation process to complete. Uncheck “View README file” if you don’t want to see it. Once the installation is finished, click “Finish.” Now, PuTTY and PuTTYgen are installed.

In the Windows search bar, type “PuTTY.” You will find both PuTTY and PuTTYgen available. Congratulations, you have successfully installed PuTTY.
